Frequently Asked Questions
hide showSOC indication meaning on the Altivar 630 Process drive.
Product Line:
Altivar 630 Process
Environment:
All serial numbers for Altivar Process
Cause:
N/A
Resolution:
SOC means [Stand by output contactor].
You will need to check you OPL (Output Phase Loss) settings under [Complete settings] [Error/Warning handling] [Output phase loss].
Look at oAC settings - No detected error triggered, but management of the output voltage in order to avoid an over current when the link with the motor is reestablished and catch on the fly performed (even if this function has not been configured). The drive switches to [Output cut ]SOC state after [OutPhL Time] Odt time. Catch on fly is possible as soon as the drive is in stand by output cut [Output cut] SOC state.
If the value of ParamKW is different, then it is referring to any modification done on the configuration of the NOC (most likely in the DTM browser). If you do not see any changes in this section of the program, then no actual modification was done. For example, if the IP address of a device in the DTM browser is changed and then changed back to its original value, a time stamp will still exist, resulting in the ParamKW changing.
How can the motor operate above 60Hz in the ATV31 or ATV312 drives?
Product Line:
ATV31 ATV312
Environment:
All
Cause:
Changing high speed / max frequency
Resolution:
Parameter HSP determines the maximum speed the drive can operate. Parameter tFr determines the maximum value that HSP can be adjusted.
By default, tFr is set to 60Hz. When changing the Motor Frequency - bFr this changes tFr to 72Hz.
To increase the maximum speed above 72Hz - Go to the drc menu and Set parameter tFr. This can be adjusted up to 500Hz. After saving the change, go to the SEt menu > HSP and adjust up to the desired speed.
If your motor is a specialty motor that is rated for a frequency other than 50Hz. or 60Hz. such as a 300Hz. rated spindle motor, change parameter FrS under the DRC menu to match the rated frequency of the motor.
Wha happens if you feed 230vac into an 480vac Altviar ATV drive to run a 230vac motor?
Product Line:
Altivar ATV61, ATV71, ATV312, ATV212 ATV32
Environment:
All
Cause:
They ordered the wrong drive with 480vac they need a 230vac drive can they use the 480vac to run the 230v motor?
Resolution:
No you will need to order the correct drive to match the motor amps, hp and application.
Max. distance that the VW3A1101 can be mounted?
Product Line:
Altivar ATV61 and ATV71 with a VW3A1102 remote mounting kit.
Environment:
All
Cause:
Installation
Resolution:
We offer remote cable options up to 10 meters in length.
Please keep in mind we cannot recommend that the HMI will work with any cable above 10 meters.
We offer 4 cable options:
1 meter VW3A1104R10
3 meter VW3A1104R30
5 meter VW3A1104R50
10 meter VW3A1104R100
If you want to try running a longer cable, you can try using a standard CAT 5 type cable to connect between the remote HMI and the Drive. Some OEMs have ran cables up to 200 feet however they had to add an external power supply to compensate the long cable length ( See the attachment for OEM example of 200 ft cable run). We cannot recommend doing this, but we've been informed that it has been done.
Output filters vs Line reactors
Product Line:
Drives.
Environment:
N/A
Cause:
Product features.
Resolution:
No. Output filters and Line reactors are not the same thing. (Load reactor if applied to the output)
Filters reduce DV/DT at the motor by filtering high frequencies. This helps protect the motor.
Line reactors add impedance to the line. This reduces current distortion between the drive and motor if applied to the output. It reduces current distortion on the line when applied to the line side of the drive.
See the information for the specific device for additional details.
