Frequently Asked Questions
hide showWhat is the process for ordering a Masterpact NW or NT circuit breaker?
Product Line:
Circuit Breakers
Resolution:
Masterpact circuit breakers cannot be ordered by catalog number. A Schneider distributor or sales office must enter the order via the online product selector in My Schneider, SE Advantage, or Quote to Cash.
Information they need includes the certification standard (UL, ANSI, IEC), fixed or drawout, ampacity, AIR required, trip unit functions or type, accessories, connectors, and other customer specifications.
The attached decoder will assist in breaking down a catalog number to its component parts. With knowledge of the breaker's construction it will be possible to use the Q2C or SE Advantage product selector to select, quote, and order the breaker. DO NOT try to build a catalog number using the decoder. A number generated using the decoder will be prone to error due to possibly selecting components and features which are mutually exclusive, and the number will have no value for quotation or ordering even if valid.
Required information for placing an order can be found on the attached RFQ (Request for Quote) or RFQ - DC for DC rated Masterpacts.
Why is the display blank on the trip unit?
Product Line:
Powerpact P frame, Powerpact R Frame, Masterpact NT, Masterpact NW
Resolution:
The LCD display on a Micrologic P or H trip unit will be blank unless the trip unit is energized. Energization requires one of the following sets of conditions:
- The trip unit is energized by an external 24 Vdc applied to terminals F1-F2 (F1 negative-F2 positive). See attachment for location of terminals.
- The trip unit is energized by an FFTK or HHTK test kit
- There is at least 100 V between two phases, AND the load reaches approximately 20% of the breaker's rated current.
- Note that the display will not power up with primary injection testing unless one of the conditions in bullet 1 above is met.
- Note that Ammeter trip units do not require external power and the display will come on with sufficient current flow alone.

Is there a Potentiometer available for an AC drive?
Product Line:
All Altivar Drives
Environment:
All
Cause:
Customer needs a speed pot for an Altivar drive.
Resolution:
Most of the drives will accept any potentiometer rated between 1k Ohms and 10 k Ohms, 1/2 Watt. See the installation user guide for the specific drive that you are using to determine the specific range that it can use.
Part number ATVPOT25K is a complete 22mm operator with mounting collar and 2.5K ohm potentiometer that has been a standard part number for many years (drawing attached for reference). However, this part is in the process of being phased out.
The E-Flex, M-Flex and MCC `s all use the ZB5AD922 operator in conjunction with part # 80442-273-02 (2.5k ohm pot)
Suggest using one of the following:
For 22mm
Metal - XB4BD912R10K
Plastic - XB5AD912R10K
For 30mm
Metal - 9001K2108
Plastic - 9001SK2108
Can the ground fault pickup be disabled on a Micrologic 6.0A (ammeter), 6.0P (power), or 6.0H (harmonic) trip unit?
Product Line:
Micrologic, Masterpact, Powerpact
Resolution:
No. To eliminate ground fault protection, replace the trip unit with a 5.0 of the same type.
For ground fault alarm, replace the trip unit with a 5.0P or 5.0H trip unit and use an M2C (S64273) programmable contact module or I/O module(s) (LV434063).
Note: if ground needs to be temporarily disabled for primary injection testing, refer to FA98682.
